Florida's RTMCs are the nerve centers for disseminating information to the traveling public. FDOT has taken a leadership role in the deployment of ITS infrastructures throughout the state, including RTMCs in major metropolitan areas. The map below provides links to information for each RTMC. Additionally, the RTMC locations, with links, are listed below the map.
A District 1 STMC is located at the Manatee County Public Safety/Traffic Management Center at 2101 47th Terrace East, Bradenton, Florida. FDOT shares space in the control room with Manatee County Traffic Engineering Division. FDOT began operations here in November, 2014. Operations is for approximately sixteen hours per day during weekdays. Control of all monitoring is transferred to the SWIFT Center in Fort Myers at night and on weekends. FDOT took over, Active Arterial Management (AAM) of state roads in the Manatee-Sarasota bi-county region as of July 1st, 2020.
The NFRTMC facility is equipped with enhanced security features that meet all Homeland Security requirements. The NFRTMC manages over 500 miles of ITS coverage along I-10, I-75, I-95, I-295, and several arterial roadways in over 10 counties. NFRTMC Operations staff are responsible for monitoring traffic and roadways, dispatching Road Rangers, FHP, Safe Tow, Roadway Maintenance and Rapid Incident Scene Clearance within the entire District Two region, and disseminating critical information to motorists through Dynamic Message Signs and Florida 511.
District 3's Northwest Florida SunGuide Center (Chipley RTMC) is located at 1074 Highway 90, Chipley, FL 32428. This state-of-the art facility is Florida’s regional transportation management center (RTMC) for operations and management of Florida’s District 3 roadways. This $24.3 million RTMC is powered by a fiber optic network stretching 235 miles along I-10, from the western Alabama/Florida State line in Escambia County to the end of the Jefferson County line at MM 235. Also covered are six miles of I-110, 56 miles of US 231, from the northern Alabama/Florida State line into Bay County, and nine miles of US 90, from the US 231 intersection to the RTMC.
District 3 and the City of Tallahassee have a Joint Partnership Agreement whereby the city agrees to perform Active Arterial Management (AAM) system performance on the state arterials from what is known as the Satellite Transportation Management Center (STMC). The STMC occupies a portion of the 90,000 square foot, multi-purpose Leon County-City of Tallahassee Public Safety Complex, which is located on a ten-acre site along Easterwood Drive adjacent to the existing Capital Area Chapter of the American Red Cross.

District 4 operates two TMCs: the Ft. Lauderdale TSM&O RTMC and the Palm Beach TSM&O STMC.
The Ft. Lauderdale TSM&O RTMC is located at 2300 West Commercial Boulevard, in Fort Lauderdale and is collocated with the Broward County Traffic Engineering Division. The TSM&O RTMC is staffed 24-hours a day, 7-days a week. RTMC operators monitor traffic conditions along I-95, I-595, I-75 in Broward, Palm Beach, Martin, St. Lucie and Indian River counties and most recently began monitoring 112 miles of arterial roadway in Broward County. District Four also operates the I-595, I-95 and I-75 express lanes in Broward County, along with future installations of ramp signals on several I-95 interchanges.
The Palm Beach TSM&O STMC is located at 2300 N. Jog Road, in West Palm Beach. It is staffed part-time, Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. The Palm Beach TSM&O TMC is collocated with the Palm Beach County Traffic Engineering Division, where operators monitor traffic and provide incident management along 59 miles of arterial roadway in Palm Beach County. The Palm Beach TSM&O TMC serves as a secondary location for emergency operations during hurricanes and other severe weather events.

The District 5’s state-of-the-art RTMC is located at 4975 Wilson Road, Sanford, FL 32771. This hurricane-ready facility serves as the nerve center for traffic management across the nine counties of Florida Department of Transportation’s District Five. Located in Seminole County, the 44,994-square-foot building is a high-tech headquarters that houses more than 100 traffic managers, Florida Highway Patrol Troop D dispatchers, and other staffers. Aided by huge banks of video screens, they monitor highways and roads with the help of hundreds of highway camera feeds, thousands of live data streams from roadway sensors, and ongoing communications with first responders. This system includes the operation of hundreds of closed-circuit television cameras, dynamic message signs, and vehicle detector sensors on I-4, I-95, I-75, SR 408, SR 417, SR 429, SR 528, and other arterial state roads via the extensive fiber optic network. Operating 24 hours a day and seven days a week, the RTMC monitors traffic and coordinates responses to incidents and crashes on 795 miles of highways and state roads in Central Florida. The SunGuide RTMC is a 24/7, secured facility with CCTV cameras set up to view the building's exterior as well as inside hallways and restricted areas (card entry access to all rooms). An identification badge system provides separate control for the FDOT and FHP personnel.
The building was designed to sustain the impact of a Category II hurricane and has a diesel emergency generator and an uninterruptible power system supported with batteries for continuous operation during power outages.
The RTMC includes Florida Highway Patrol dispatching and the District Emergency Operations Center. Florida Fish and Wildlife, the Florida State Emergency Response Team, FDOT Motor Carrier Compliance Office, and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement will also be collocated in the RTMC. The operations staff at the TBSG Center are responsible for utilizing the RTMC as an effective tool for transportation management. The RTMC became operational in March 2007.
Florida's Turnpike Enterprise operates two Regional Traffic Management Centers (RTMCs) within the state and provides liaison staff to one of the Florida Highway Patrol’s regional communications centers. RTMCs are located along the mainline in South Florida at the Pompano Beach Turnpike Operations Center at Mile Post 65, and in Central Florida at the Turkey Lake (Orlando) Headquarters complex at Mile Post 263. The FHP co-location is at the Lake Worth Regional Communications Center (LWRCC) at Mile Post 94.
The RTMCs are the central facilities for the control, monitoring and management of Turnpike traffic, and are operational 24/7. Our dedicated staff is trained to operate nearly 2,200 ITS devices such as electronic message boards, CCTV cameras and traffic sensors to monitor and respond to changing conditions on the nearly 500 miles that comprise the Turnpike system.
The original Pompano Beach RTMC came on-line in 1999. It was replaced with a new 11,000 square foot signature RTMC in December 2009 and provides an ITS platform for Turnpike Operations to work closely with FDOT Districts 4 and 6 RTMCs along with surrounding emergency response agencies. The 1,200 square foot Turkey Lake RTMC went into operation in 2002 and underwent a major renovation to double the video wall and workstation capacity in 2018. The Turkey Lake RTMC collaborates with FDOT Districts 1, 3, 5 and 7, the Central Florida Expressway Authority and surrounding city and county agencies.
Both RTMC locations work closely with the Florida Highway Patrol’s Troop K as the primary law enforcement agency on all Turnpike roadways. With staff embedded at FHP’s LWRCC, the Turnpike upgraded video display capabilities at that facility in 2020, increasing the size of the main video wall and adding supplemental side displays for real-time metrics and resource availability viewing.
